Every country has its history. The Middle Ages shaped the character of every
village of Europe. Each place is unique, rich in historical
traditions, heroic deeds and famous characters.
The Confraternity of Malemort offers you the opportunity to bring back to
life the particular history of your region and so make it brighter. Our
brotherhood is a non-profit association located at
Namur, Belgium, and offers itself as a creator and stager of
medieval spectacles and pageantry.
The Confraternity of Malemort is composed
of men and women who are devoted to history enthusiast
persons and trained to re-create a medieval ambience. It
stages events that allow the spectators to experience the everyday life of our
brave ancestors. Knights and mercenaries fight in violent battle while jesters
and fire-breathers entertain. The cannons thunder! Swords jingle! Curious
children touch the weapons, and ask questions. Quick, take a picture!
All the scenarios come from Confraternity's directors or are especially written
for those contracting for its services. Its specialists in historical and
heraldry search through local chronicles and annals to find details to make the
Confraternity's re-creations vivid and accurate.
The Confraternity employs armor and weapons replicating
those of the period of the Hundred Years' War, and takes particular pride
in the historical accuracy of all of its equipment and costuming.
The Confraternity sets up a
medieval encampement,
that spectators may visit, handling the weapons, inspecting the other
equipment, and seeing for themselves the care with which these
replicas have been crafted. The food and drink served during the
banquet
are made according to medieval recipes as possible. There are no
french fries on a table of the Confraternity.
The Confraternity is able to stage large events or small tournaments with jousting on horseback, medieval music and singers, acrobats, tumblers, and more. It can provide the background for television or motion picture productions based on medieval themes, or for events such as medieval conferences, educational demonstrations, or anniversaries and birthdays. It can also cooperate with others in staging large banquets, Medieval Days, or entire battles. The cost of its services in contracted on the basis of the size of the production desired, and takes into account the amount of ornament, weaponry, armor, and the number of participants needed.
The Confraternity invites all those fascinated by the Middle
Ages to join its ranks. Are you ready to train to use medieval
weapons or to learn other skills of the past? The Confraternity
welcomes participants of all qualities and kinds: lords and peasants,
smiths, horsemen, historians and acrobats are all welcome if
they share the Confraternity's love for the Middle Ages,
The Confraternity has no political or economic agenda except
that of rejoicing in our common historical heritage.
